I’m not from Florida, so I had only 2 weeks to consult with the flower shops throughout Boca Raton during a visit. To help in your flower ordering, we’ve created a guide so you may better understand the types of designs we do:
Contemporary style is simple, clean and offers an uncluttered look. Flowers are typically linear in style & tall. Vases are clear glass, square and tall. No filler or accent flowers. Limited greenery. Greenery is done with large tropical foliage, accented by bamboo. Flower types are limited to about 3 types…usually large round, short flowers in the front (like lilies), linear, tall flowers (like stock) toward the back and orchids throughout. Would not recommend putting roses in this design.
Modern style – Can be contemporary (like described above) – typically starts at $75
modern chic (typically, short piece in a cylinder or cube with a clean, compact, structured look, no fillers or greens, not a lush look…good example would be South Beach Neon or a Pave style) – Starts at $40+ piece
modern artistic (example of modern artistic would be captured tulips or “roses and rush”)
Euro Garden- A mixed assortment of flowers of various sizes, but generally round, arranged in a structured, lush design. Greens, vines, ivy, berries, willow, raffia and butterflies ornaments are common to this design style. Typically colorful, but can be done in a monochromatic color palate.

English garden - A mixed assortment of flowers of various sizes and shapes, with emphasis on linear flowers, such as delphinium, stock and larkspur, all of which are common to English gardens. Due to the combination of linear and round flowers, this style is UNSTRUCTURED, wild and filled with movement. Flowers are light and airy with plumosa and ivy are great greens to use for this piece. These flower pieces are typically colorful. Hard to do with a monochromatic palate, but can do wit analogous color palate (meaning similar color tones that create harmony when used together…like a pastel of pinks, lavenders and some crèmes).
Exotic-Typically refers to a tropical piece of brightly colored ginger lilies, birds of paradise, purple dendrobium orchids, haliconias, etc. Palm leaves like Chinese fan palm and dark mahogany bamboo are common piece. These pieces are large in style and should start at $100+

Dutch Flemish- based off the Old Master Style of Dutch Painters from the 1600s.
These pieces are large, one-sided versions of the English Garden style, but with more emphasis on the dutch flowers, such as hydrangeas and tulips. These pieces are done in ornate containers (baroque…elaborate like a gold container or an urn with many details). This is a piece that goes well when placed against a wall as a background…since it is one-sided. It is a colorful piece, with many flower types. Typically starts at $100+
